System Administrator

Middelburg, 40 hours

We are looking for someone to strengthen our team of system administrators. You will be working in Middelburg on the design, delivery and maintenance of hosting platforms for demanding private individuals, businesses and foundations.

What are the duties associated with this position?

The tasks associated with system administration are highly technical as well as a commercial in nature. This job primarily involves the design, delivery, maintenance and monitoring of hosting platforms and related products to demanding private individuals, businesses and foundations. In addition, you will be required to update the system and handle customer requests. You will liaise closely with customers and will function as the jointly responsible account manager.

Who are we looking for?

• You have good communication and social skills and able to apply these in the form of correct communication towards customers and colleagues.
• You have demonstrable experience with server systems based on Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) and are well versed in working with kernel and boot loaders.
• You are familiar with virtualisation, in which knowledge of Xen and KVM are an advantage.
• You have demonstrable experience in maintaining and setting up high availability and other hosting environments based on Apache, MySQL, NFS, iSCSI and DRBD.
• You are familiar with storage and have basic knowledge of file systems such as ext(2|3|4) and XFS.
• Experience with control panels, such as Plesk and DirectAdmin is an advantage
• Experience with popular web applications and e-commerce software (e.g. Magento, Wordpress, Joomla) is an advantage.
• You have a thorough basic knowledge of PHP, SQL and related script/programming languages.
• You have up-to-date knowledge of modern server hardware and options.
• You have a proactive attitude towards system administration: ‘prevention is better than cure’.
• You are willing to work in monitoring and incident response teams outside regular working hours.
• You live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Middelburg office.
