Making a Snapshot
- Navigate to: Storage. Select: The desired volume.
The menu of the volume provides a function for creating a single snapshot and a function to schedule automatic snapshots at intervals of your choice (Recurring Snapshots)
- Navigate to: Storage -> Select View -> Snapshots. Select: The desired snapshot.
A snapshot can be restored in two ways. On the one hand by creating a new volume on the basis of a snapshot. On the other hand by creating a new template on the basis of a snapshot.
Restoring based Template
This method is used to duplicate a VM or restore to a point in the past.
After the selection of the first icon a template may be created based on the selected snapshot. Then a new VM can be created based on this template. Please refer to our Quick Start guide for creating a VM.
Restoring based on Volume
This method is used to recover volumes at the time of creating the snapshot.
Note: Replacing disks with this method works only for additional data volumes, not the root volume of your VMs
After the selection of the second icon, a volume can be made on the basis of the selected snapshot. You can then use the following method methods to associate the disk with with your VM:
- Navigate to: Storage -> Select View -> Volumes. Choose: the newly created volume
With the third icon from the menu above the newly created volume can be linked to the desired VM.
